ELGIN TREADLE

This machine is soooo... beautiful and, I couldn't get my photos to do it justice.  The decals are gorgeous and I wish I could have taken some good photos of them.  The cabinet is a reddish blonde.  Stained, with no varnish, or other finish on it.  It has the automatic lift.  The iron base is painted brown, I don't know if it is original or not.  It is my understanding that the ELGIN was made by FREE Sewing Machine Company.  From correspondence with another ELGIN owner I have dated it to 1925-1926.  It is very heavy and I have been told the cabinet is solid oak.  After moving it a few times I well believe it!  It has the shuttle and three bobbins to go with it.  There is the beginning of rust on the hand wheel and other chrome areas.  It has been stored and, unfortunately, in a damp area. Check out the photos below and let me know what you think.

I do not want to ship this as it is very heavy.  I would be willing to work with you to get a pony express set up if necessary. It is located in Morgantown, WV. That is about 80 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA.

Notice how the veneer was laid to make the matching design.

The decals on the bed are worn, someone did a lot of sewing on it.

Sorry this is so blurry, the decals are gorgeous.  Doesn't this put you in the mind of the gingerbread on some Singers.

Print is nice and bright, almost a 100%!

This is a thistle design, much like the Singer 66.

The chrome on the hand wheel is worn, and there is surface rust.  Nothing that cannot be removed.

This one probably best represents the color of the cabinet.

You can see in this photo there is some damage to the back.  Someone has put screws in the corners to hold it.

There is a ruler across the front.  It is a decal and has some wear to it.

There is a small bit of damage on the corner here.  Not very noticeable, but I wanted to point it out.

Same as above.

This is the inside of the lid. There is a scratch here also.
